Adaptive Fitness scholarships

Adaptive Fitness Scholarship

Fitness is a vital component of health and wellness; however, for those living with a spinal cord injury, the cost of adaptive support can be prohibitive. To help ease this burden, we are pleased to offer the  Dr. James Spendley Adaptive Fitness Scholarship. As Medical Director of Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation at the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, Dr. Spendley devoted his career to helping others heal—offering not only his medical expertise but his deep humanity.
Through the generosity of our donors, we award a minimum of four $3,000 scholarships each year to selected applicants living with a spinal cord injury in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin. These funds are intended for use toward participation in a Minnesota adaptive fitness program, including but not limited to Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute’s ABLE Program, Health Partners NeuroWell Program, Fit 4 Recovery, and EA Therapeutic Health.
Application Cycles:
Applications are accepted year-round and awarded in January and July:
  • Apply between December and May for consideration for the July award.
  • Apply between June and November for consideration for the January award.
For full scholarship details and application information, please review Scholarship Information. Apply by clicking on the button below.
Special thanks to the Darden Family for their continued support of the scholarship program.
