Our vision is a world in which paralysis from spinal cord injury is curable.

Who Are We?

Get Up Stand Up To Cure Paralysis (GUSU) is a nonprofit organization in Minnesota working to unite, educate and support those dealing with Spinal Cord Injuries and to advocate for research and the restoration of function.

Social 2025

This past Friday on September 26 we had another successful Social raising over $96,000 thanks to everyone's gracious donations. We are extremely humbled by everyone's generosity and thank you once again for your support.
Peer Group Meetings
We are excited to share that we have 2 peer group meetings that are being held virtually (via Zoom) and in person.

One of them is at Courage Kenny Golden Valley - 2nd floor boardroom 3915 Golden Valley Road Minneapolis, MN 55422 on the 1st Saturday of every month 3-5pm.

The other meeting is at Health Partners Neuroscience Center 295 Phalen Blvd. Saint Paul, MN – 1st Floor Conference Center on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 4 PM.

Adaptive Fitness Scholarship
GUSU is happy to announce, through the generosity of its donors, the GUSU Adaptive Fitness Scholarship is available twice a year. We have also updated the name of our scholarship to be the GUSU Dr. James Spendley Adaptive Fitness Scholarship in honor of Doctor Spendley.​
Applications are now being accepted at this time. Please apply Here until the end of November.

​Scholarships will be awarded in $2,500 amounts to selected applicants for use by an individual living with a Spinal Cord Injury (from IA, MN, ND, SD, or WI) towards participation in one of Minnesota’s Adaptive Fitness programs.

Outside Organizational updates – 180 Medical Scholarship Program

At 180 Medical, we believe in empowering students who have overcome medical challenges to pursue their educational goals. Our annual scholarship program awards seven $1,000 scholarships to full-time college students living with conditions such as spinal cord injuries, spina bifida, transverse myelitis, neurogenic bladder, or an ostomy. We also offer a caregiver scholarship for students who provide unpaid care for a loved one. Applications are accepted from January 1 to June 1 each year.
